Ok, just got my m11x last week. The only drivers I have messed with were the video drivers and this is what I did. I installed teh newest nvida drivers while my comp was plugged into my 42 lcd. When the computer rebooted the resolution was set to 800 x 600, only other option was 1024 x 768. Both look really odd. So I unplugged the hdmi cable and rolled back the drivers, all went well. The re-installed teh nvidia drivers and no issues.
Now its a few days later and my computer restarted and itsd doing the same thing. Its booting into windows with 800 x 600 and the only other option is 1024 x 768. ON TOP of that, adn this is weird, when I goto device manager there is a exlamation next to the onboard gpu. I hit properties and get this "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)". Hoiwever when I hit update it says the latest drivers are installed. When I goto dells website and attempt to download the drivers from there nothing happens. I hit download, nothing. I hit add to downlaod list, then download at the top of the page, nothing happens.
Obviously there is a issue with the onboard driver. I can set it to use the 335m 24/7 in the bios but I dont want to do that. I want it to work the way it should. Anyone have any ideas?
Im really starting to get pisssed

ah a second note that might help. whne I right click on the desktop and hit resolution, then I hit advanced settings from there I get some weird info. Under adapter information and all other info its says unavailable or n/a. When I hit properties for the card it says VgaSave Device Type: Non-Plug and Play drivers. Under driver it just says VgaSave with stop and start settings that look like there from the services menu. I can start and stop it and select disable, automatic, etc..
This is all very very weird and im sure a driver issue, just dont know how to fix whe n Icant download from dells website and the auto update says the drivers are up to date. -
I always use the m11x with an external monitor, both via the HDMI and the VGA connection, installed and reinstalled the 197.72 drivers a couple of times - and not a single issue arose.
It is strange that are you unable to download the drivers from the Dell website, I just checked it - works as always for me. It seems it might be exactly the thing to do in order to solve your problems. -
Likely wrong driver install.

I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever with the community released drivers here after FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS FULLY. Yes that's bolded.

Why did you mess with the drivers in the first place was there already a problem?

Yeah, it's not cool to be selling something as a gaming machine, and then drop driver support. It's not like they are gonna splash that all over the description when you buy it though. I can't see it being that difficult for them to do this every few months. Maybe if we start an email campaign or something?

What problem were you guys trying to resolve by trying experimental drivers? Legit issues or stability concerns are certainly valid but seems like some just update for the sake of updates.
Newer, improved, AND stable drivers would be nice to have. Right now the experimental forum drivers are not stable enough for production - maybe this is the problem they were having. Anyway, what was the issue?
If you are chasing FPS across the board note that not all games get an improvement from what I can see. -
On the issue of driver downloads, clear your browser cookies and close/reopen your browser. go back to the support site, find the driver and then select download VIA WEB. do not use the download manager.
Also, as others mentioned, the 'latest nvidia driver' is not going to support the R1. My R1 is still on the Dell driver and I have no issues. Might want to go back to it. Either that or you can play around with the one modded 11xR1 driver we have here on the forum but keep in mind you may run into stability issues. -
It's not just about chasing FPS, but when there are legit fixes for certain games you want to play in newer drivers, it becomes an issue. It's billed as a gaming machine, so treat it as such. They don't have to build a new driver set with every revision Nvidia puts out, but one every few months would be nice. That's all.
