So I was thinking about what type of things Id like to have with my m11x when I get it and I decided having an external display would be a fun accessory to use it with as Iv read many people hooking there m11x's up to external displays and enjoying other things along with gaming.
So I want an IPS display. There dosnt seem to be alot of best picks or favorite threads about IPS displays so what would be some good choices leaving out cost? I would like a wide varitey of choices from different brands if its possible. Also does any one use an IPS display with there m11x and how does it work with it? Any comparisons in frames from using a regular monitor or dislikes/likes?

The dell ultrasharp monitors are quite amazing, but don't get them at full price. They always go on sale on dell's website. They are also probably the most cost effective when purchasing them on sale.

Also consider resolution. If you get a 1080p or higher monitor the M11x is going to be that much slower compared to the native 1366x768.

The Dell U2410 ISP 24" 1920x1200 monitor is both brilliant and crap(tinting issue if you get a bad one).

My monitor has a very slight pink tint in the center of the monitor which is highlighted (slightly) on a gray background.

This screen may be to big at Full-HD 1080p for gaming via the M11x (aka Crysis), even with the monitors Game setting. Works fine at lower HD 720p 1366x768 setting.
Excellent for video/DVD viewing and general use.

    Pros:
The shear number of connectible ports is out there with spoon bending, unbelievable.
    1xHDMI,1xVGA,2xDVI,1xDP,1xComposite,1xComponent + Media card reader, 4 upstream USB 2.0 + 1xstereo 3.5mm output.
I've had my U2410 24" connected via HDMI to HD Freeview TV, my M11x via DP an HDMI, old systems via VGA and Desktops PC via DVI all work without any problems.
    16:10 1920x1200 wide-screen aspect
Any tinting issues aside, the colour definition is amazing within this price range.
Touch OSD gives a good list of menu options and setup, including Graphic/Video and/or Gaming, Multimedia or sRGB
    A01 revision fixes Dithering problems.
Input Lag for gamers, this can be reduced using the Game mode and it does work to bring the time down to around 14.4ms

    Cons:
pink/green screen tinting!!!! If you returned a monitor(Not allowed now!) because of tinting and the replacement was no better, then this implies a high ratio of monitors with tinting issues. Custom settings do NOT fix this problem!! (This is why I[My Opinion] believe the M11x hinge failure issue will never be officially recognised by Dell. At least we can still get the M11x hinges fixed on warranty through Dell.)
Possibly unusable by Professionals requiring a true calibrated monitor with NO tinting issues. Dell doesn't calibrate multiple points on the screen. Look at NEC or EIZO
A00 revision had sRGB Dithering problems.
Probably better monitors/models on the market today than this one.

    U2410 FAQ Posted by DELL-Chris M

    * Pink/Green Tint - Note: All received captures were tested and are within manufacturer specifications for Color Gradation. Exchanges will no longer be offered for this complaint since a dispatch of another display will not solve the issue as this is a normal panel characteristic and not a hardware failure.
Description: The various preset modes set at the factory and available on the OSD (On Screen Display) Menu are meant to cater to a wide variety of display scenarios. Certain color gains are enhanced in specific preset modes to deliver a richer display eg for movie, gaming etc. However, it may still not be ideal under certain viewing conditions due to individual environments and preferences even though such color presets are aligned and 100% factory checked to be within specifications.
    Solution:
    - Press the monitor Menu button to launch the OSD Menu and display the Main Menu
    - Down arrow to Color Settings
    - Change from Standard to Custom Color
    - In Custom Color, you have the ability to adjust the color representation of the individual level of Red, Green, and Blue. The gain setting will enable the individual intensity of Red, Green and Blue primary colors to be optimized for best viewing experience and could lessen the Green/Pink Color Gradation. The default setting for customer colors are preset at 100,100,100 which represents a neutral setting
    - In cases where there is a need undo any color setting changes, you may select Menu- Color Settings- Reset Color Settings to revert the color preset selection back to factory defaults

    * Graininess/Dithering in sRGB and Adobe Modes - A01 fixed this. Currently, the only way to get the A01 version is to get a refurbished exchange from the A00. The A01 version will be offered at a later time (no ETA) as a New purchase

    * Photoshop error reports, "Monitor Profile Dell U2410 appears to be defective"
Go here to get the 3rd Beta U2410.ICM released as DELL-U2410.ICM . Once loaded, open Photoshop and direct it to use that ICM. If using Firefox, remember to load it in Firefox- Add-ons- Color Management- Preference- All Images

    * Buzzing - Set the Brightness to 76 or greater and adjust the Contrast to 25

    * Power button blinks - In PSM (PowerSave Mode), the button blinks on/off to amber, repeats. This is normal

    * Component input Wide Mode aspect ratio options - The availability depends on your resolution. If I am in prime mode 1920x1200, there are no choices available. If I am in 1280x1024, then I get the choice of 1:1, Aspect, or Fill. According to this forum, the U2410 has 16:9 and 4:3 display modes with the Component connection

    * Dirty look in white backgrounds - The dirty look on white backgrounds is the anti-glare coating

    * Gaming colors too bright - In game mode, you can minimize the contrast by disabling Menu/Display Settings/Dynamic Contrast and setting this to Off. Since game mode bypasses processing to minimize input lag, if you want to tweak to reduce wide gamut issues (glowing reds etc.) then you would have to find a way to do that via game settings or your graphics card drivers

    * Display Appears Off-Center using VGA - This is a limitation of the scalar to position properly when no border pattern is present. As a workaround, perform the steps below:
    - Switch to another screen that has a border, such as desktop wallpaper, an office application, or an internet browser homepage
    - Try the auto adjust function again to center the screen
    - Switch back to DOS screen. The screen should now be centered
    - As an alternative, you can also manually adjust Horizontal Position under Display Settings to center the screen

    * No Bios screen when using ATI FireGL V7700 video card with monitor DisplayPort - Once the operating system opens, video resumes and works fine. This issue is isolated to this graphic card and monitor combination only when display port is used. This is working as designed. To avoid this issue, connect the graphics card to the monitor DVI port

    * All Menu buttons may not light up - Only the lights next to the buttons that have active selections will be lit. Not all menu sections have enough options to utilize all buttons so those that are not active will not be lit. This is working as designed

    * Buttons not working - You (accidentally) or someone at the factory has put the U2410 in locked mode. To lock/unlock, press and hold the Exit button (the button directly above the power button) for 15 seconds. You should now be able to access the menus using the buttons

    * Calibration
The U2410 is shipped incorporating pre-tuned sRGB and AdobeRGB settings and with an average Delta-E of <5. Results may vary with other test equipment, setups, and test patterns.
