well today i used the CD that came in the box and after trying to install the intel wireless driver it doesn't want to install so i gotta have it hooked up to the Ethernet cable. Is there anyway i can fix this?

Do you have the Intel or Broadcom (Dell 15xx) card?
-
its a M11X R2 so iam guessing its the same as yours. Intel card i believe not really that sure since i dont know much =\. tried getting the wireless driver from the dell site but it wont install.
-
Confirm what card you have first by checking device manager or use Speccy
-
can you post a screenshot for i can know what to look for.
-
-
did you download the proper drivers from dell?
-
i think this is what u asked for rigtht?
-
That is what he asked for...from that, I'm assuming that your wireless card is 'Network Controller' under 'Other Devices.' Unfortunately, there is no driver installed for it.
If you right click->Properties on 'Network Controller,' does anything in the properties page tell you whether the manufacturer is Broadcom or Intel? If you can identify it, go to the Dell site and find the corresponding driver. Otherwise, you can try clicking on the 'Driver' tab of the properties page and clicking 'Update Driver.' -
well iv tried that but doesnt say anything. I have also tried downloading Drivers and Downloads
but it says failed to install. -
Have you also tried installing the Dell (Broadcom) driver?
Another thing to try would be, again in Device Manager, right click->uninstall 'Network Controller' and then reboot, and hope that it reinstalls properly. -
k i will try it. Btw thanks alot guys for helping me out. i dont really know that much but you guys are being a great help!. hehe sorta panicing because iam scared i cant fix it
-
the main reason why i used the CD was because i beleive i got a virus called svchost.exe Is it possible that the Virus is still effecting the hard drive thos causeing it not allow to install?
-
after looking around i found a notepad in my ipod and i found a list of drives and this was inside it Network - Dell Wireless WLAN 1520 Half MiniCard where can i find this
-
on the dell download drivers site
-
The driver for the Dell Wireless card can be found here.
Since you're having so much trouble, can you provide a better background for your problem? In the future something like having a virus to deal with is something that you should mention at the beginning of the thread. It would help if you could give a full account of what has happened from right before you started having problems until now. For example, exactly when did you start having problems? The more information you give, the easier it will be to help. -
Your wireless card might have failed. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago and I called Dell support and they replaced the wireless card.
-
muuu my wireless card D: *slaps a bandaid on it* well ill try it out after school and see if the driver helps :3 cya in a few guys
-
YAY! thanks Cappielloa! now its fixed ;D. thanks alot guys for helping me out. But my net seems to be slow atm tho :X
-
When i did a reinstall i had a similar problem.
I solved it by dling the driver off the dell website and running the driver program after it DLed. just having the dl doesn't do it.
cant get wireless to work
