    broken connector between motherboard and power button

    well, i sure feel dumb, was taking my laptop apart and forgot to disconnect the little plastic strip( no idea what its called) connecting the motherboard and the power button when taking off the palmrest. the result was that all the connectors on the strip where torn or damaged, and i have a laptop that i cant trun on. anyone know what the plastic strip is and where i can get a replacement from? thanks in advance :p

    ouch, thats bad man. i remember i almost did the same thing to my keyboard strip and spent 4 hours puting it back togeather, my sympathies man

    Is the damaged on the PC motherboard connector, the PCB for the panel of indicator lights and power button, or the flex cable connecting the two?

    If you broke the plastic flap that locks/unlocks the connector on the motherboard, try layering tape on the connector to fit it in tight without the flap. Layer them to be progressively thicker and then put another layer on top so that it forms a ramp over the other layers (keeps them from peeling during insertion). An Xacto knife or a razor really helps.
