I was gonna get myself one of those Bigfoot WLAN cards but i was wondering what the difference was between the two avalible and weather it was worth the extra 25 bucks for the 1103?

The 1103 card is faster than the 1102 card, but it also requires you install a extra antenna too.
    1102 up to 300mbps
    1103 up to 450mbps

Is the extra antenna easy to install?

Easy - sorta, very time consuming though.

You need to take pretty much the whole laptop apart to remove the screen from the computer, then you need to take the screen it self apart to install the antenna.

alot of users dont see a advantage from 300 to 450 due to limits of their internet service though.

    :(
In a stock m11x there will be no difference so save yourself some money. Even if you install a 3rd antenna your router must suport 450 speed for it to make any difference

I switched from the 1102 to 1103 and the ping dropped, a little, the speed difference is not significant. The range is a little better due to the third antenna. Also, unless you are using a 450mbps router, you won't see the benefits.

I know this is old, but...

Make sure you connect to the 5GHz connection. You should see two networks with the same name, one at 2.5GHz and one at 5GHz.

ooo Dell stopped offering the Killer cards as default in the high end M11x systems. Thats too bad. They seem to have changed a lot of things around for the 'holiday' deal. I see a smaller hard drive, lower end wireless are now standard. =/ And it is more expensive than it was 2 months ago. Yowch. They are really gouging the holiday shoppers.

Ahh wait, I see what they did. They put the base price higher and gave it a bigger 'instant discount' to make it look appealing. Basically it is a slightly lower price than it was 2 months ago (with that instant discount) but also has lower end hardware. Hard drive is only 500gb instead of 750, and the wireless is not the killer but their basic wireless card instead.
