Having been recently bent on optimizing battery life, I selected the option in alienfusion for the alienfx effects to be off on battery mode. However, when I boot the computer the lights are turned on. Only when the battery eating alienfx program finally loads, do the effects turn off. This leaves me with two options: either leaving the program on at startup and then subsequently disabling it manually OR having it off at startup and then enabling it (so that the light effects turn off) and then closing it manually. Either way, manual input, which I am not all that keen on, seems to be my only option. Is there any way to circumvent this problem? Thanks in advance.

If you go into the AlienFX Control Panel, and select every zone to be black (i.e. off), does it still come back on at startup?

Have you checked BIOS? On my XPS 1730 You can set the default in BIOS (including off) and it doesn't change until Dell's manager loads with Windows and changes it.
