Hey everyone, I bought my current laptop a while ago, for the same price as the M11x is now. It's the Dell Studio XPS 1340. However, recent games have not been running too well (it's not so much a gaming notebook either), though with most games I can still play at low/medium settings. But most of the latest games won't run on lowest settings even.

Another problem is my graphics card (9500M), which uses 'Hybrid SLi' to 'improve performance', which it doesn't do anymore (not with newest games atleast). Hybrid SLi is actually slower now, and I believe also unsupported.

Either way I might be looking for something new soon (or in the near future), and I am wondering if the M11x is a good notebook, specially for games? Since the price is now exactly the same as when I bought my XPS 1340.. I wonder how the performance is compared to mine? How well do games run on it?

It's still a heavy price though, but I guess if I'm able to sell my current notebook for a decent price that it's decent.

And also how are the other alienware notebooks performance and budget wise? Any suggestions on which to buy?

Gaming wise the M11x should perform at least twice as well as your old laptop, i'd urge you to consider it as it's one of the best performing budget gaming notebooks on the market.

If gaming performance is your only concern, you can find slightly more powerful options for less money, or far more powerful options for slightly more.

In particular, the Acer AS5740G is ~$750 and won't lose to the M11x in anything except portability, quality, and battery life. AnandTech reviewed it here.

The M11x is a nice option if you're looking for gaming and solid portability, though if that's what you want there are still some upcoming competitors you should look at.

m11x is currently the smallest gaming laptop. Gaming with a small screen might need some getting used to. I'd suggest that you go to a bestbuy that sells one and see for yourself.
