After weeks of tweaking I finally managed to get the Witcher 2 to run at a solid 25 fps with high textures, ON MY R1! I at last managed to eek out that last 5 fps i needed to make the game playable. It looks so great and plays awesome, im so proud of myself lol. (i know, its several months old but i only got it like 3 weeks ago)

I'm not trying to be funny, but it tends to help if you include how you achieved this feat so others who are struggling can attempt to get the same performance using your "tweaks".

Glad you got it running at your desired performance level though.

    Yes, please share your secrets!

At one stage I had The Witcher 2 running really well, around 30-35fps pretty consistently with low settings @ 720p, but ever since the 2.0 patch it has been running like dirt.
Now I struggle to get 20fps with the lowest possible settings @ 1024x600.

Are you running the latest patch? I found that my performance was at its peak with the 1.35 patch.

So if you wouldn't mind sharing some of your magic, I'm all ears... ;)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you need to pin mod the CPU as one of the steps, right?

Nope no pin mod as you can see in my sig. And I'm running the 2.0 version @ 1280 x 720 and high textures.

First of all (obviously) bios OC and gpu OC. Then run gamebooster and (I know this may some people off) but I have the retail version and I closed out steam as it does take up some CPU. Then I opened up taskmanger and just went crazy on the processes tab, stopped several processes, basically anything that I could close without crashing my computer. Also, when you are done OCing your gpu, CLOSE MSI afterburner, it keeps your OC but loses the cpu cycles. next, when adjusting settings in the launcher, set Texture Memory Size to medium (and everything else to low). Finally, when you do start the game, ALT TAB to your desktop, open task manager and set the Witcher 2 to HIGH priority, also, CLOSE THE WITCHER 2 LAUNCHER, it doesnt crash the game and this last step gave me another 2-3 fps.

Hope I helped, let me know if this worked for anyone else, I was getting a smooth 25-27 fps during an 11 man fight and was loving every minute!

wow, dont think you guys have to do alot of thing to make this game run smoothly, i'm currently playing this game without any issue with lowest setting, native resolution, i also have no secret at all, lastest patch, lastest VGA driver, pin moded CPU to 2.0Ghz and dont have to tweak anything, the game is really playable at atleast 20fps in heaviest scene, I only got trouble when i reach the last battle in chapter 2 at the end of this chapter, i had 12-20 fps.

ps: i just checked the settings, they arent lowest at all, i set texture downscaling to none (best quality), shadow is medium and decals (the last one) is high spec.

My R2 is quietly weeping is the corner at the moment...

I've spent hours trying to get back the performance I had pre-patch 2.0 but it just isn't happening for me. I'll have another crack soon but at the moment I'm trying to fight an extreme addiction to Demon Souls ;)
