So, i'm reinstalling windows 7, i have bootable flash with official win7 hp sp1 and installing win 7 won't be a problem. I have a question about drivers and direct x. Which order i should follow? And what about chipset driver? It exists on dell's webpage but its old, should i install it?

I'm asking the same question. There is a guide on this forum in which order but it only tells us which categories, not which drivers,

Normally you should start with storage drivers during OS install (not the case here, but very common in servers, remember the 'press F6 now...' prompt? I'm talking about this).

So, in the M11x, start with the chipset, then display drivers (Intel first, NVidia later). The rest doesn't matter, but I would install the network drivers to download the remaining up to date drivers directly to the machine being reinstalled.

Anyway, if you search alienware.com support page you may find some documentation about this.

Certainly there are no documentation about this.

You are talking about some old os list XP which needs sata drivers.

Sure, a smart guy like you know all about everything, so the following link might be some allucination I'm having here...

Alienware : The Best Custom Built Gaming PC for the Ultimate PC Gamer!

    This one too:

    http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/driver_install_order?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~lt=print

And for your knowledge, Win7 also presents the user an option to load additional drivers during install, the difference is that it's not an 'F6' prompt anymore, but a clickable option.

I only gave the F6 example because people are more used to it. And as I said, IN THE CASE OF THE M11X THIS IS NOT NEEDED.

BTW, do you realize that I answered your question and you didn't accepted it? As you can see, the information I gave IS 100% CORRECT, just read what is in the pages I linked above.

Man, if you're so smart, why are you asking for help here?

Edit: I found the 2 links in this post in less than 1 minute. Go google and don't ask others if you already (think that) know the answers.

Ok, I give up. We're trying to help you and you keep questioning us, 'cmon man, what are you trying to do?

One last thing: go here and please READ it all. This link in my post states the following right in the first line: "The following list is an overview of the correct order to install drivers on Dell desktops and portables".

The M11x is a Dell machine. You have a service tag, and you download the drivers from Dell's website.

In your first post, you said: "I have a question about drivers and direct x. Which order i should follow?". Now you have the answer.
