Will these specs be ok for what I do?

I'm most likely going to buy an m11x (m15x looks good to me, but doesn't have the portability I need, and is out of my price range).

    Specs:
    Intel® Core™ i7 640UM (4M Cache, 1.2 GHZ with 2.266 GHz Max Turbo Frequency) - Overclockable
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz
    320GB SATAII 7,200RPM
    1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 335M

Will the above specs allow me to multi-task with these without lag?:
    -Photoshop CS5
    -Corel Painter 11
    -Blender3D 2.49 and 2.5

I do a lot of 3D modeling, rendering, and digital painting. I have external monitors at home, so screen size is not an issue at all... I'm just concerned about the performance. I travel quite often, and I'll be going to college this year, so that's why I need the portability. I have a desktop (iMac 20") at home, which is starting to slow (with all the multi-tasking I do), so I'm hoping the m11x can take at least some of the workload (and some gaming, like Dragon Age: Origins, or the upcoming Brink).

yes perfectly fine. You can go with 8gb if you really want to.

Perfectly. As for the 8 GB, I don't suggest it.
You really don't need a full 8 GBs, unless you are multi tasking like heck.

EDIT: I SERIOUSLY NEED TO READ MORE CAREFULLY....
8 GB would be suggested, as you are gonna be multi tasking.
I also suggest (if you can) get an SSD, as it will help load those programmers faster.

Now before you pull the trigger though, I hope you know about the hinge issue.
As you may, or may not know, after 4-5 months of usage, quite a few people have reported that there hinges break. Now while this is covered by even the basic warranty(Dell will send a new screen, or even a replacement system), this can be a bit of a inconvenience. Now for me, it doesn't really doesn't bother me, as I don't mind the inconvenience of calling up dell and asking for a fix, but it may bother others.

Just something I thought you best be aware of before buying it.

Oh yeah, I read about that... as long as it's covered in the warranty, I'm ok with it. Thanks for the heads up though.
