    I know I saw a "how-to" thread almost a year ago but can't find it anymore. Basically what's happening is that when I switch graphics, it tells me that I need to close iTunes out before I can switch.

    if you need to white-list an App just use the link in my sig. idk if it will fix your issue as I haven't ever played with an m11x R1 but you can give it a try :)

    Thanks but that didn't help. I figured out how to whitelist iTunes from the nvidia control panel but now, it tells me that I need to close an .exe file before I can switch graphics.

    This is not a whitelist issue as the R1 is not using optimus like the R2/R3 unless you are using the modified drivers from the forum (if you were then you would not have orig R1 switching option).

    Certain applications need closed before switching.

    Regedit for M11xR1 hybrid switching whitelist

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Hybrid]
    "WhiteList"="Firefox.exe, iexplore.exe, chrome.exe"

    Just add 'processes' you wish to exclude to the comma separated list.

    Thanks for that...I just got my R1 and adding Firefox to that list has helped greatly. Is there any downside to adding a program to the whitelist? Is some program going to have or cause a problem when switching graphics? :confused:

    I don't switch back and forth all the time, but over a year and a half, I've not had any problems with web browsers and media viewers that I have listed.

    And if browsers with GPU acceleration don't have problems, then you should be OK. But easy enough to remove and then add again if testing for oddities during GPU switching.

    Just be aware, when I check the GPU support in Firefox browser [about:support], it still says Intel even when I've switched to Nvidia. So you may still have to restart a given browser to get optimal GPU support. This however, doesn't stop the browser from working after the switch over.

    An easy test for desktop browsers is to run a GPU hardware accelerated test using Intel integrated GPU and then switch to Nvidia and test again. If the performance is about 10 times better, then there's not a major issue.

    Mostly you switch over to play a game and the browser is just another also running application and not the focus of the switch.

    I had not heard of this before but on manually switchable systems like the M11xR1, you may have a popup warning you that an application will need shutdown before switching. Whitelisting appears to me in THIS case as a way for the system to ignore those applications and switch anyway.

    NOT the same as whitelisting in optimus for R2/R3
