    Hi guys

first I just want to say I appriciate any help you guys give, so thanks in advance

yesterday i picked up a preowned m11x r1. When i got it home i saw the previous owner didnt know what they were doing and the computer was in a bit of a state software wise - no folder icons, didnt even have the nvidia drivers installed and was generally a bit flakey

as you can imagine i wanted to do a standard factory reset ... so i boot up the laptop pressing f8 as you would and when I finally got to where I wanted to be ... no dell local safe backup option for me to restore to.

I can see the recovery partition is still there and ive seen a few guides to the whole imagex to restore it properly - but that means installing WAIK onto another windows 7 machine to get the imagex.exe file - which i dont have and isnt an option to me

    so heres my question

if i do a normal format and installed windows 7 from the recovery disk and got all the drivers etc from the dell website what exactly would I be missing out on?

Ive read people talking about the "alienware look and feel" but as I havent previously owned an alienware computer I dont know what that is. As long as I can still download and use command centre on the computer I'm not too bothered about the alienware wallpapers etc.

    Thanks guys
