    I have been following the threads a lot in anticipation for the m11x that I won from Bioware/EA in a contest celebrating Biowares 15th B-Day in early April.

    Alienware m11x priced at $1,419 w/ a Bioware Shirt
    * Alienware M11x, Cosmic Black
    * Intel® Pentium™ Core™2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache)
    * Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
    * 1 Year Basic Warranty Plan
    * 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz
    * 500GB SATA II 7200RPM
    * 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 335M
    * 11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p) WLED
    * Internal High-Definition Surround Sound Audio (5.1)
    * Alienware M11x a/b/g/n 2x2 MIMO Wireless
    * Integrated 10/100 Network Interface Card
    * 1.3MP Web Cam
    * Steam and Portal™ Factory Installed

    But Alienware has yet to deliver the machine to BioWare in order for them to send it to me. Its been 5 weeks.

    From these specs, it is loaded with stuff.
    I noticed that the 8GB memory is a huge jump in price over the 4GB. What is the big difference that I will see? I havent seen any one in forums with 8GBs.

    Can't Wait :D for my first Alienware.

    That much ram should not make much of a difference really in normal use or gaming. Though with that amount of ram you could probably disable page filing with no worries.

    Looks like you hit the jackpot. Yeah, 8GB RAM will not make any noticable difference vs. 4GB.

    Now you have ;) But honestly the only reason I have 8GB in the M11x is out of laziness. I had an 8GB kit for the M17x and only installed in in the M11x test some theories. Been in there ever since out of laziness. I'll take it out when my M17x gets here.

    Since the M11x isn't going to be anyones main CAD machine or photoshop unit, there is pretty much no need for 8GB RAM in the M11x.

    Ya, waiting 5 weeks for a prize (and then some) from a big company is kinda ridiculous. I mean how does one hold a contest for something they do not physically have in their possession?

    Grant it, congrats on winning, that's awesome, but you haven't actually won anything till they ship it I say. heh

    Bioware said it would take 6-8weeks max. Alienware contacted Bioware to say they have shipping problems so there will be a delay.

    I went to BB and cheacked out their model. They had Avatar on to play and it was very nice except for screen is so small coming from a 24in PC to a 16in Lap and now the 11.6in. I also messed with the AlienFX. Does the keyboard seem to be to dim? Also the front lights doesnt seem to shine all the way cuz a quarter of it is dimmed compared to the rest.

    Its still a great laptop though!

    err just goin from the post heading here. but from what i can tell the m11x can pretty much run anything. just dont expect to max out everything.

    you can probably expect medium to high settings for most games.

    although, this is a huge improvement over the laptop im using right now. lol im getting choppy 20 fps in bioshock 2 on the lowest settings at the lowest resolution possible.

    i just ordered mine too
    su4100, 4gb ram, 250GB 7200rpm HDD
    all for the awsome price of $774.33
