I love my m11x R2, it's perfect in all ways except one - I think the screen has been gradually dimming over the last year and now I squint constantly when I use it outside, which is often. For my next notebook, I want to make sure I get a brighter screen that will hopefully stay bright for longer.

Apparently the average notebook brightness is 200-250 nits, and some can go as high as 650 nits. Does anyone know the (initial) brightness of the Alienware M11x R2's screen is in nits? Is the R3 any different?

Thanks that was perfect. They say the R2 is about 150 cd/m2 (nits), and the R3 is more like 200.

I was heartbroken to learn they're discontinuing the m11x, but it sounds like the spiritual successor is the Clevo Origin EON 11-S or the Maingear Pulse 11 (which is a rebranding of the same hardware?). I haven't found any review of the screen brightness yet but I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks. Not great news though - it's only around 218 cd/m2 which is still going to pain my eyes on sunny days.
