I'm pretty sure the higher the DirectX the more textures and effects it is told to process. For example AA cannot be used in dX 9.

In that case though, you can run DirectX 10 and customize it so there is less stress on the CPU and more on the GPU. That is the only case where it may be viable to use DirectX 10 over 9 to get more performance (AGAIN IN TERMS OF THE R1 - because its GPU is much more powerful than the CPU). Read this post as I believe it pertains to your inquiry.

You can find the original post and a lot more customizations for BC2 that you may or may not have looked over yet...

Actually... I will chime in here.. BFBC2 uses a DX9 sim type program to make it compatible so it uses more CPU for DX9 but requires less GPU. That's why folks with higher power duo core 2 and mid grade video cards use dx9. They have more cpu and dx9 runs better on mid to lower gpu.

On my m11x I used dx10 because I personally thought it was a better balance and my FPS numbers were more stable that way. Less dips and more horizontal reportings across the map.

    Best wishes,

    StevenX

Well from my exp. Dx10 gets HALF the fps of Dx9 on R2
