    SAKAI.

I name every one of my computers after an Iron Chef. My main gaming machine is MORIMOTO. My work laptop is called CHENKENICHI. My Alienware M11x is Sakai.

They are all part of a domain called KitchenStadium.

I didn't realize a lot of people name their laptops. I refer to it as M11x or laptop. I guess I'm no fun. :)

Artemis. All of my systems are named after Greek goddesses and they're members of the mt.olympus.local domain.

I thought they were referring to the laser etched tag on the bottom? If that's the case, I'm equally as no fun as I have 'Alienware M11x R2' etched on mine.

And you shall (Not the dying bit though). I've written it on paper and buried it in a time capsule. The time release should mean it'll be available in 2038.

Which may not be a good thing as that's the year the signed 32bit integer holding date and time goes 'pop'.

25 years of naming corporate systems means I'm a dull boy.

Re: How do you call your m11x?

But that was then.. now we're in the galactic phase.

MBP-305 (Mobile Battle Platform class-305) or Jupiter-class battlecruiser.

    Computer Name: MBP305

But now I'm erring towards SC366349

    Computer Name: SC366349

It's the service number of Samantha Carter (366349) .

However the battle Platform has a wider dynamic range and better naming constructs.

    MBP (Mobile Battle Platform) [notebooks]
    SBP (Static Battle Platform) [desktop]
LBP (Light Battle Platform) [Mobile phone]
NBP (Network Battle Platform) [Network Devices]

    {Battle Platform}{int WEI-CPU}{number}

Thus the M11xR1 would be MBP4nn where n is a number.

You are a weird geek. But you are so supremely weird-geeky, that I can't help to respect it.

    +rep. Cheers.

Shockwave, after the most logical transformer of all. Also he's purple, my 11x's color is purple. Perfect fit.

I'm guessing a few people get the reference here. Gotta say though, never was a fan of the show. I'm more of a Battlestar Galactica guy myself. In any event I knew, knew!! that you'd have something interesting on this topic. Love the battle platform naming convention.

Haven't got mine yet, but my tag is my nickname, Shadow, and I name all my machines after minerals/precious stones. Desktops: Crystal, sapphire, granite. PS3 Onyx, mac book pro: Graphite. So I think I will name my m11x Obsidian or maybe BlackPearl
