Skillman01 Dual-Core Processor means you have the R1.

BIOS are basically the user interface between the software and hardware.

BIOS in your computer for example the motherboard BIOS are set instructions that make your computer function properly along with many other factors. Upgrading your BIOS is only recommended if your need to, if your not experiencing any problem then why would you? (Why fix something that's not broken?)

    Hope this helps Skillman01

    Core2duo is a R1.

The BIOS is the basic programing that controls the computer's hardware and sets up the computer to allow for an Operating system (ie: Windows) to take over. It's the screens that load before the Windows loading screen appears. You can also change some settings in the BIOS, such as media boot order, overclocking, disabling some devices, etc. By upgrading to the latest BIOS, there are some performance increases.

Just a note, the i5/i7 are dual core processors, too. But since they have hyperthreading, they'll show up as 4 processors.

Me nitpickikng over a silly technicality :p
