I just installed Skype and launched it for the first time on my r3 and it says no webcam is connected. I checked device manager and there is no unknown device. The webcam is most likely not connected or it is disabled and it must be enable via a keyboard shortcut. Any ideas?

Go into device manager and see if Integrated Webcam appears under a category. (probably Imaging Devices)
If it shows up its something to do with skype. -

Hmmm. I know it's not something you want to hear but phone customer service. Shouldn't be hard to get a replacement or them to fix it. If it doesnt appear there they may have a driver but as far as detection shouldn't be as long as some other calls out there.
First time I heard of an issue with the webcam -
It's not that big of a deal for me if the webcam does not work, I don't even use it that much. The microphone works and that's all I need.
Thanks for your help! -
Hahaha. You could always use your skype microphone to call

I also just got a Samsung UN46D8000 and I have a webcam for it and I can use that or my desktop. -
True true :] Who needs a webcam for a gaming laptop anyway?
Webcam not installed - r3
