Ok so I have got hold of another m11x off ebay and want to transfer the remaining warranty. However I d not have the previous owners details and have no way of getting them, it was the owner before the person that I bought it off.
Basically is there any way around this? I've heard about people putting no information in the sections but I've tried this before and it didn't work. Anyone got anything? Or am I going to have to forget about it?
Tom.

I bought an M15X from Ebay as well and didn't have the previous owners info. There is a department in Dell that you can call that will let you complete the transfer anyways. I don't have a contact number though. I used my business rep and he forwarded me to the right person. It can be done. Call there customer service line and ask.

Ok thank you. I shall give that a go if all else fails.

Ok so they are refusing to put it in my name via the online form. I have tried every trick in the book to no success. Is there any rep (Luis) or anyone that has a contact that can help me. I have a mountain of proof of ownership, PayPal/eBay receipts and messages, listing number, etc etc and obviously the machine in front of me too! -
They are an absolute pain. I have all of the previous owners information for my R1 (full name and even address) but they still refuse to let me transfer it to my name. Of every manufacturer i've ever had to deal with, Dell reps are by far the most careless reps i've ever talked to. They honestly couldn't care less about trying to resolve your issue, they care only about what they are "allowed" to do, and to make sure that they are covered at all times. Even though i have all of the information they still refuse simply because it will take a little effort on their part to push it through.

And just a personal thought, i think they have all the right to be cautious given the number of scammers that have stolen service tags etc. to benefit from Dell's support, a service they weren't entitled to. We can only blame those people and not Dell for playing it safe -
I agree with what your saying, someone always ruins it for everyone else. I think I'll try giving them a ring, surely with receipts for proof of ownership and all they have to accept. I use the word "have" very lightly. I know they don't have to do anything, I guess I really mean hope!
Cheers anyway guys. -

I did mine online and figured out a trick that works. A friend of mine just did it on his dell desktop he got.
"As others I have seen, I was having trouble with the ownership transfer not knowing the previous owner information. The trick of putting "No information" in the first and last name slots worked but I still couldn't continue with out some kind of zip code info. I tried "No information" in it but it didn't work. Using 1 didn't work either. I tried a few combos and nothing worked. I wound up putting in "Noinformation" with out a space in it for the zip code and that worked and allowed me to finish transfering the ownership. I will check back with them on getting the hinges replaced after giving it a little time in my name."
Strange quoting myself, lol. Let us know if it still works.
