    R1? R2? R3?

USB is pretty slow & I don't know why you would want to run USB-to-HDMI when the M11X already has other output options superior to USB when it comes to displaying video. Like VGA or Display Port.....some M11xs (All? I'm not sure) even have HDMI-out already on them)

You do not want to use a USB-to-HDMI adapter.

Assuming that you are outputting to a flat-panel HDTV, then you will want to use an HDMI-to-HDMI cable. You can find those cables in any electronics shop, and they are supported on every HDTV. Buy one of those cables, and you are good to go.

Your M11x has two video outputs on the left side of the laptop...

    1. An HDMI port
    2. A DisplayPort

You can connect to external displays with either of these, though the DisplayPort is commonly used for computer monitors. You will need a DisplayPort to HDMI cable if you want to use the DisplayPort ( Amazon.com: High Quality Black DisplayPort Male to HDMI Cable Male - 6 Feet / 2M: Electronics)

if you wish to use the HDMI port (which is the most common input on newer TV's) then you will need a straight HDMI to HDMI cable.
