I want to migrate my 500GB HD to a 750GB one. What is the best tool to transfer my partitions (including the recovery partition) to the new HD?

Depends what kit you already have - if you have an external drive and a flash drive, there are plenty of programs out there that will allow you to clone your existing drive and restore to a new hard drive. I use Paragon Free Backup & Restore, though Clonezilla is also a popular one. Create the backup image to your external drive, create the boot media on the flash drive, swap them over and restore onto the new drive.

Remember to extend the partition to fill all the available space on the new drive, or shrink the C partition and create a data partition.
