    Up to 8 way multitasking?

    I was just looking at alienwares website and it says the i7 model can get up to 8 way multitasking.... is that the cores? Mine is currently showing 4 cores.

    Sorry if these questions sound nooby as I am new in the pc world

    It could be talking about how most i7 processors have 4 cores plus 4 virtual ones so it can do 8 threads at once. The i7 in the M11x is a low voltage version, which only has 2 cores plus the 2 virtual ones. Look up hyperthreading for more info. I think that is a generic i7 description picture and that part of it doesn't apply to the M11x since it has a 2 core version.

    ^Yeap, it means hyperthreading. Very misleading, hyperthreading is useless.

    Depends what you're doing.............this isn't your Grandfather's P4 hyperthreading.
