COOL :D what about the cables, I think they are more problematic than actual adapter

I ordered a replacement power adapter for my Acer Aspire one and it was smaller than the original due to being 2-pronged instead of 3. It supposedly was an original AAO adapter. Anyway, it was so small that I would say that my Acer one was MORE portable than this thin one, despite being thicker (the Acer one had a smaller footprint).

That said, I've been anticipating the Piezo-electric laptop step-down converters for the better part of a decade, but they haven't showed up. They would look like a fat pen in-line with the AC cord. They actually would not rectify the power to DC, so the PC would need an internal rectifier (not bulky; the Nintendo Entertainment System even had one).

Technically it will work. But apparently it will only power the laptop not charge it. Most likely a proprietary power supply for charging. You can take a look at the compatibility page. M11x isn't listed but you can pick any of the other models and get the idea. Its a shame too since I have been looking for a portable power supply for my bag.

I really can't believe that they didn't manage to get Dell compatibility in there. Dell has one tip that it has used for all of its machines over the past 10 years or so, and Dell's 90W PSU is a very common accessory that is sold with many Dell laptops.

They're ignoring a huge segment of the market by not having Dell compatibility.

There's more to it than that. The BIOS/CMOS Setup specifically identifies the adapter. This kind of thing is probably meant to block unauthorized adapters.

This is not true. The BIOS simply detects whether it recognizes if the adapter has sufficient wattage to power the laptop - it does not "block" or "reject" 3rd party adapters.

I have owned several Dell laptops before, and have used many 3rd party adapters from Kensington, Targus, iGo, and Duracell. I am currently using a Duracell adapter with my M11x without problem.

^^ Exactly. I've already used 3rd party adapters as backup on my M11x without issue.
