Ran in tho a weird issue when trying to install Windows 7 from a thumb drive plugged into a USB 3 port. Kept getting "a required cd dvd drive device driver is missing" when starting the install process. I moved the thumb drive to the USB 2 port and now the install is running fine.

Figured I would post this here In case anyone else has the issue.

Thumb drive is a Sandisk Cruzer 8GB.

USB 3.0 isn't natively supported yet, so it needs drivers in order to work. That's why you cannot install Windows 7 from a USB 3.0 slot.
