This problem just occurred when I connected my external hard drive to the usb port of my R1 and it gave me this message "This USB device can perform faster if you connect to a Hi Speed USB 2.0 port. For a list of available ports, click here." So after I click it then it tells me that "There are no Hi Speed USB host controllers installed on this computer."

I've connected this same exact external HD many times and never had this problem until now. Could it have been the latest Windows update that was issued? Anyone else have this problem?

As a test, I connected the HD to another laptop that I have and there were no issues with it. That laptop has also had the recent Windows update installed. I'm at a lost at what could have happened to my R1.

    No one?

Can someone at least tell me if they have the same driver version for 293A and 293C?

Have you gone to Windows Update yet?

And yes, mine are the same version.

And you've done a re-scan of the device drivers?

Right click - Scan for hardware changes.

The M11xR1 USB implementation is a bit flaky at times.
Just try running a 56KB modem off the USB port(s) for any length of time.
It seems to have timing issues. (My experience)

This is one time a power off and power on will fix the problem. :)

If restart doesn't help, then try disable and re-enable the affected ports in Device Manager. (the ones with exclamation marks)

Thanks for all the suggestions and yes, I've done all of these but to no avail.
Restarts, windows update, hardware changes, disable/enable. Also selected Update Driver and it says I am using the most up to date driver and that the best driver software is already installed.

I'm not sure what else I can do. Maybe revert back to prior to updating to SP1?

I have a Targus 4 port hub with three USB sticks and a Logitech wireless mouse adapter. I've seem it fail with "could run better...bla bla.." info bubbles and generally been able to recover.

Have had USB ports lock out devices, such that they no longer connect.

If a power off (not restart) doesn't fix things and disable/enable has no benefits. Take the next step and uninstall the specific USB device adapter in Device manager and then power off the system and then power on the M11xR1 and let the USB device re-install itself.

I have Win7 SP1 and it's fine. I wouldn't start restoring old versions of operating system or doing anything much beyond device manager and the USB port.

As namaiki points out yellow exclamation marks mean problems.
