    USB Key... Dell Backup ... advice

    i already did the usb key backup, do i need k
    to keep dell backup installed?

    Your question is a bit vague, but do you mean that you have made a back up to a USB with the dell back up software and are asking if you still need to keep it installed on your system?

    If you're asking that , the answer is Yes. You will need th software to read the back up and restore it to whatever you have in the back up.

    If you have created the restore media (USB or DVD) using DataSafe Local, you can remove DataSafe Local from your system.

    If you restore from the rescue media you created, you will need to boot from it at which time it will launch the restore process. Remember, do not alter or remove the rescue partition from the drive. The app can be removed, not the partition.

    You sure? because I've had to do restore using the dell data safe program.

    Because my m11x kept BSOD every time I booted I had to do a start up repair, and it didn't fix anything so it gave me the option to do a system restore with either the windows or dell program.

    Yes - I am sure. I have used it multiple times. It is possible your system's MBR was damaged - I posted on this possibility in one of the earlier threads re: restoring when F8 did not function correctly.
