I noticed this last week, but used R1's are still fetching more than this second hand on eBay. Alienware.co.uk is selling the R1 for £449, I dont believe they used to list the R1 at all, only the R2 until the R3 came out.

Even though a C2D is getting on a bit, this is a cracking machine for the price.

The R1 is still a great laptop and for that price its worth for many to consider. sure its not the fastest M11x but the price to performance ratio is unmatched... even more so if you pinmod.

Yeah I saw that. The UK ebay prices are crazy! You get some good ones but they are mostly refurbed ones at crazy prices!

I bought one last two weeks ago that got delivered two days ago.

    U7300, 500GB 7200RPM, bluetooth, 4GB 800Mhz, with one years accidental damage cover.Just £504 including delivery. Superb price.

The £449 machine has a smaller HDD, 2GB RAM and no accidental damage cover.

It's my second M11X. The first was a refurb from a a non dell seller, which now has a cracked hinge, dead battery and an italian keyboard.

I am working on a blog post about the pitfalls of buying refurbished which I will post on here when finished.

you can fix the cracked hinge yourself pretty easily.. using epoxy. and buying a new battery would cost less then $100. both easy fixes..

I noticed on the dell site they only do the R1 in silver, i bought one last night from Amazon, brand new black for 549 if anyone wants a black one, new and doesn't trust ebay.

I got the same spec as punkstoner for £415 (R1, su7300, 500gb, 7.2k, 4gb, BT) a couple of weeks back! There was a 10% off voucher code posted here and I happened to check Quidco who had another 10% cashback deal going on Alienware products! Got here real quick too...

Ninja Edit: Just configured the same spec machine to check what it's going for now... £604!
