Hey guys, so I recently reformatted and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. I have two problems so far..

First problem: I installed the Alienware Command Center and the newest nVidia graphics drivers. When I first installed the command center, I saw the "hybrid graphics" tray for a split second after restarting, then it disappeared. Then I installed the nVidia graphics driver but it was still nowhere to be found.. I'm hoping reinstalling the command center would perhaps fix this..? I'm about to do this so I'll update on whether installing the graphics driver FIRST THEN command center is necessary. (NOTE: This is a problem because I am unable to switch from Intel to nVidia graphics)

Second problem: When I close the lid to my laptop and reopen it, the screen is all jumbled and my screen is basically showing an extension NOT the main desktop. How do I fix this?

Anyways, lame problems but hopefully someone can help! Thanks in advance =]

EDIT: Oh another small issue.. what's PeerNet and how do I remove it o_O

This sounds like a bad driver installation. The OSD and Command Center are pretty finicky when installed in the wrong order. Try this order and see if it helps. If you can, uninstall everything you've installed and run ccleaner to clean your system out. Even better do a clean OS install.

Install the drivers in this order:
    -Chipset
    -Video drivers
    -OSD
    -Everything else
    -Command Center

That order always worked for me after a clean install.

Alright, I suppose I'll reformat it.. But do you think this would also fix my laptop lid closing problem..? OH and thanks! =]

Were you installing 197.72 from Dell or something else?

OH I'm installing 260.99 as it suggested on the nVidia website.. why..? Do the newest drivers not work with the m11x R1..? =[

EDIT: OH GREAT.. yea I just read this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/530309-m11x-r1-260-99-hybrid-drivers-intel-2020-a.html (I vote for that to be stickied =P)

..so I suppose since I'm an R1.. I either do undigitally signed OS mode or older nVidia drivers.. =[

Oh also, if I download the dell 197.72 driver, I still have to download the intel graphics driver right? I can just download the newest one right?

No. The M11x R1 (and other Hybrid Graphics notebooks) requires the nVidia and Intel drivers to be meshed together in the .inf, which is what the Alienware/Dell 197.72 driver is. (it includes Intel driver 1994 - so, nVidia 197.72 + Intel 1994) There have been some successful attempts at meshing newer drivers together as you have seen.

What about updating the Intel Graphics drivers? Would that work @ all?

EDIT: Also, how do I stop PeerNet from starting up? Anything to install? Does anyone know the service in "service.msc" for it? Or perhaps the process in the task manager? =]

No you can't install any drivers out side of the single package, the R1 is unique and in some respects better/worse depending on what your preference is.

I'm running the hybrid 260, 2226 package - these work fine but you must follow the instructions.

So does know how to stop PeerNet from startup? or is it connected to(and must run) the wifi program?
