    I know what you mean!

I've been using mine for a week now and this little alien is amazing.

My only complain is about the F keys... I don't like the idea of pressing Fn everytime I want to skip a song, lower the volume, dim the display, etc..

That aside, I'm really happy with my purchase.

And yes... I do get people to look at it and ask me what is it! :D

Can I ask you new owners how you find the size of the screen for gaming? I'm deciding whether to get one.

    No lies!!

Honestly I happy with the size of the screen when it comes to gaming. No complains at all

BUT when it comes to work that's a whole diferent story...

Congrats on your purchases! The M11x is the perfect road warrior the only problem I have is when I use my desktop or M17x. Going from those resolutions and screen sizes back to the M11x sometimes hurts my eyes. But otherwise it is a fantastic machine.

This. I have an external monitor just to do my coding in. It's such a strain doing hours of work on it.

Screen on the M11x is not brilliant. You need to be directly in front of it for best viewing angle.
It's not easy to draw a gas mask on a M11xR1 11.6" monitor, but guess you could if you had to.
At 2Kg it's not the lightest Notebook either.

However, with all the monitor connectivity HDMI/DisplayPort (+VGA - M11xR1) its easy to connect a Full-HD LCD/LED(or two) to the M11x.

Even the M11xR1 at 1.6Ghz will handle most games current or old at medium settings. I bought Crysis 1.0 and play that at medium with no problems.

1½ years on and I've had no dramas. Even have the original screen with a hinge that has not pulled away from the mountings.

Would recommend an M11xR2 i7-640UM as a good solid notebook if you can't afford the M11xR3.

M11xR1 has tons of soldering and wiring mods to boost CPU and is the best 'cheap' notebook if you fancy yourself as an electrical engineer. Also has manual GPU switching which is problematic when upgrading.

Unless you have a reason to buy an M11xR1, I wouldn't buy one now even if it was cheap. Go M11xR2/M11xR3

I've had my R3 for about a month now and am still blown away by it. I would have paid $2000 for it to be quite honest. I'm a truck driver always on the road so mobile gaming has always been a problem for me. I've had an ASUS 11" eeePC for general laptop use for the past 2 years and was paying attention to the M11X happenings for all that time waiting to pull the plug. As much as I read about it, I still found it hard to believe they could pack so much into such a small laptop. I've been able to play every game I've thrown at it at max settings with no framerate problems.

I had an Asus G1S a few years ago and paid $2200 for it. The thing was fried after 10 months. I don't think I'll look to any other company besides Alienware from here on out for gaming purposes.
