    Dear Dell.

    Touchpads suck.
Please include a trackpoint on the R3.

    Thanks.

Man, I totally support this idea with all my heart! :D

Actually my opinion is that all notebooks should come with dual mouse devices, like thinkpads: touchpad + trackpoint. They are old technologies (they have been around for years and years) and it is not like they would increase prices so much.

I would forgive dell/alienware hinge issues if they were including trackpoints :D

Some Dell Latitudes have the dual input option

Now if only they had a better GPU in the smaller ones... :(

Exactly, I know the latitude (and precision) series and I would love to have one, but they are too expensive outside u.s. and don't have switchable powerfull GPUs in small formats (13.3" screen and below). It is so annoying to have dual mouse devices just in business machines... At this time, 21st century, all notebooks should follow the three rules below:

1-) dual mouse devices always: touchpad + trackpoint (or useyourimaginationinthisforummouse, very informally XD ).
2-) if not integrated-only GPU, then swichtable GPUs.
3-) glossy and matte options of screen.

They can have different chassis, different materials, they can use cheap plastic or nice aluminium, they can have different ports, colors, different screen sizes... but those three rules should always be there!

Man, I've had 2 thinkpads over the years and I never could understand why man invented the trackpoint. To each his own I suppose.

I guess I got used to it :D
My first laptop was a toshiba satellite 2675 DVD, which had just a trackpoint. Nice machine for the time being (I regret to have sold it... =P ). I can do everything fast with just one hand using a trackpoint. The left hand!

Yeah, I cut my teeth on an IBM Type 2600. Trackpoints are a nice part to have, now :)

But not a dealbreaker for me (IMO).

I have a thinkpad at work and I never use the trackpoint either. For me it's too hard to control, always either too sensitive or not enough. I prefer the pad.

Also I use one hand for the pad as well, would have never considered using both hands, lol.
