    Hi guys

I am thinking about getting a M11x R1 (core 2 duo) for college. I need a laptop that will give me plenty of battery life.

I wanted to know if you could share the most battery juice you have been able to get with your M11x (please let me know if the CPU is not the C2D).

I was also looking at AMD-fusion HP dm1z laptop, which supposedly gets 6 hours of web/wifi.

    Thanks again for your help

I don't have an R1 personally but from what I've been reading you can easily get 6 hours out of it with browsing the web and office open.

I have the R1 myself and it's a good, stable machine. I just leave overclock on in the bios and put everything else on power save when on the battery. Depending on how I run it, I get about 4-5 hours of battery life. I also like being able to manually switch integrated to dedicated graphics, as opposed to the R2's auto switching. I'd recommend it! Just make sure you get it on sale.

If your going for battery life, I would think for the price there are better for your money.

I love my R1, but think its overkill for school... unless you intend to game on your free time. Also the keyboard is hit or miss. I am not too fond of the keyboard and how hard you have to press some times to get it to register. Often my spacebar gets missed and words get run together... that would be a nightmare in class when taking notes.

The R1 on the other hand can do just about anything and do it quite well. I love mine and am sure you will love yours too, but if money is a concern (which it should be to any college student) you may be interested in a decent dual core netbook for school. Thats just my 2c opinion.

That's something you need to contact support about. That's most definitely not normal.

News to me. I originally searched the forums and found that people were complaining back and fourth about the keyboard being a little difficult. I guess I have to look into it a little more. I may be just pressing it too lightly, either way... thanks for the heads up.

The R1 is fantastic. Almost 7 hours on battery and it's gotten much use in my college life.
