Hi all, could somebody with an M11x (who hasn't reinstalled Windows) please upload the original alienware theme file found in C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

I can't quite remember the name of the file, but it won't be "Custom".
to access this file, you must show 'hidden files and folders'

I'd really appreciate it if it's possible

    Nathan

I'm trying to recreate the themes that come with the factory installation. The theme file contains information about the 'defaultbackground' image so that when the Alienware theme is selected (under 'Personalize') the login image automatically changes to the Alienware image. I have seen the other thread (containing user account images & wallpapers), and have noted the registry edit that will change the login image. However I would very much appreciate it if someone could upload this file.

Are you talking about AlienGuISE? The stardock app? If so, you can download it from the 11x driver support page.

As for the thread I put together ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ook-feel-after-clean-install-windows-7-a.html) the registry entry change may not be necessary. If it is, its very simple and is only required if you want to use the AW default login background.

Another alternative is to use a thirdparty app which can set login backgrounds. There are several out there which are free.

    Thanks for your replies Batboy.

I am not talking about the stardock application, but this particular theme file. The theme file specifically references itself directly to the backgrounddefault image, and switching back to a different theme (say Windows 7 default) will automatically reset to the default image installed on Windows 7. Another thing the theme file does is group Alienware themes (not wallpaper, but themes) together.
