I've been following the alienware m11x threads for the past 6 months on this board, and I just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone for all of their comments and insight. When R2 hit I took the plunge, and based a lot of my purchasing decisions/price haggling on the advice on this board, and it really paid off. Thanks everyone!
My price before tax was $1585.98 for an m11x R2 with the following changes from the base spec (free shipping too, btw):
Overclockable Intel Core i7 640UM (4M Cache, 2.266 GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
256GB Solid State Drive
Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student, English
CompleteCare Accidental DamageProtection, Inspiron Desktop, 1 Year
Gobi Mobile Broadband, GPS, DW5620,VRZN
Optional Bluetooth Module, 2.1+ Enhanced Data Rate
Plant A Tree - Notebook, Netbook, Laser & Inkjet Printers, LCD Monitor Offset
Alienware Orion Portfolio Case for M11x
If you're keeping track thats $300 of software upgrades and a $2 tree and a $30 case. You take those away and you're looking at $1253 for a i7 m11x with a 256 gb solid state drive, bluetooth, and gobi mobile broadband (and upgraded warranty) - I feel pretty great about that, and its all thanks to you guys. 256 gb solid state drive alone is a $570 upgrade normally.
I'll be picking up 8gb of ram off of newegg, and I can't wait to benchmark it and share as soon as I get it in early July.

How'd you get it so cheap?

I assume you ordered via phone?

Huh, not bad. I'm stuck at $1156 with both of the reps for this config:
i7-640UM
1 Year Premium Warranty
2 GB Memory
160GB Hard Drive
Bluetooth
Alienware Orion Neoprene Sleeve
External DVD Burner (iOmega one)
Extra 90W AC Adapter -
Well, I don't see the 90W AC adapter as an option (for some reason), but even without that you're sitting at around 16% off, which isn't too shabby. If you are looking to save money I'd downgrade the warranty to an advanced one (so you still get the accidental damage coverage), premium doesn't offer too much above that. Things you can negotiate on to save money further are things like the warranty and sleeve (see if you can get a free sleeve, for instance). Also, you can always try another rep to see if they will drop lower. -22% is as low as they go, or so I've heard ... so shooting for -20% might be reasonable.

90W AC Adapter was a custom (hence the rep) and costs $65.99.
As for the warranty, I'm more interested in getting the same rep every time over accidental damages, as I take very very good care of my stuff.
The sleeve is already factored into the cost. I'm trying to get in the realm of 18% off, so I can afford to buy my Orochi and 8GB RAM this week, instead of when I get my next paycheck. -
Alienware M11x, Soft Touch Stealth Black
Intel Core i7 640UM
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M
250GB SATAII 7,200RPM
Got this set up for $979.10 before tax. Total of $1040.30 after tax. Would you guys say this is a reasonable price for the M11x R2? -

Should this not be in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...der-status-discussion-thread-part-2-a-48.html?
Anyhow, I was able to have none of the precious three:
Thanks to Dell India reps, oh wait, I mean the Dell UK reps in India.
All in all, I feel like I've been defrauded, but of my own will - if that even makes sense. -
As mentioned above... Please continue order discussion in the order status thread. Thanks.
