Im thinking of buying Starcraft II is there a way when installing from disc to specify to play from hard drive once its installed so I dont have to have the hassle of having a external disk drive hanging out the back of my machine every time I want to play it any feedback much appreciated.

Yes. You don't even need the discs, even if you buy it in a store.

Go to www.battle.net and set up your account, it'll let you add your game's CD-key to your game collection...

then you download the game client, and it downloads/installs the game off the HD... no CDs required.

DarkDomino is correct. Starcraft 2 does not require a CD / DVD disc in the drive to play. It does, however, require you to log in to Battle.net every time you launch the game... which is why it does not require a CD / DVD disc check.

If you have not already, I would recommend you check out Steam ( http://www.steampowered.com). It is an online game store and digital distribution system that lets you buy and download games. Once you create and log in to your Steam account, you can download the games that you have purchased to any computer, as many times as you would like, without ever requiring a disc check. I, and many other PC gamers, have not touched a game CD / DVD in years, because of the and awesome games catalog in Steam.

The *BEST* part about Steam are their sales. You can often find top-tier PC games at ridiculously low prices whenever Steam has sales. Game publishers will mark down their games to almost criminally low prices... like Team Fortress 2 for $2, Left 4 Dead 2 for $7.50, Grand Theft Auto 4 for $8, Bioshock 2 for $15, Batman: Arkham Asylum for $10, Metro 2033 for $13, Just Cause 2 for $7.50, Resident Evil 5 for $10, etc etc. When Steam has sales ,it is not uncommon for people to stock up, and end up spending around $100+ that ends up buying them 10+ top-tier games.

Yup - Having games digitally is the way to go these days.

Each time I reformat, I download all my Blizzard games thereafter, which generally take 16-20 hours to download every single Blizzard game on DSL.

    SC2 downloads in 6 hours @ 500kb/s (DSL connection).
