Which warranty service should I use for my new M11x-R1? Squaretrade is less expensive, but Dell offers ADH. Squaretrade will refund my purchase, but Dell will upgrade my laptop.

you can get advanced from squaretrade as well they will try to repair and if that does not work you get a refund. Dell will give you better and easier support at the expense of $$$$$. Squaretrade you will mail off the laptop to get repaired or refunded

The M11x-R1 I purchased is from the Dell Outlet, so Squaretrade won't let me get ADH.

Basically, with Strade, my $110 would mean getting my purchase price back when the laptop fails.

    Hey,

We do offer ADH on laptops. If your laptop is still within 90 days of its purchase date you can get an ADH with your warranty.

Do let me know if you have any other question.

    Priya,
    SquareTrade.

Is there anyway we could arrange for ADH to be added to my Squaretrade warranty that I just purchased for this laptop? Please contact me.

Sorry for the double post, but I figure I'd include an update.

SquareTrade absolutely took care of me, and I'd recommend everyone pay them $140 for a warranty instead of Dell $700.

They seem like a really great company to deal with.

I recently purchased a laptop with 1year manufacture warranty, and if I purchase a SquareTrade 3-year warranty right now (within 60days), when does the SquareTrade warranty take effect? at the time of purchase? or after the manufacture warranty, which means it gives me totally 4 years of warranty(1manufacture+3SquareTrade)?

ADH begins a month after you purchase it, their regular warranty begins after your manufacturer coverage. So, yes.

Just purchased a 3yr warranty from STrade $89 (which includes the $40 discount). I'd rather give my money to them is instead of crappy Dell.

I can sleep a little better knowing that if my hinge goes out after the Dell warranty expires then it's still protected. Now I can finally take this laptop with me everywhere I go instead of leaving it on my desk.

Dell, I know you visit this forum...........Dell = Fail

Just made the purchase too. Thanks for the discount info!
    $90 for a great warranty....can't beat that.

Too bad I couldn't get the ADH since my R2 is a refurb.

I went with SQ. I have on my last three laptops, actually. My rationale is once the standard warranty from Dell runs up in a year, I'd rather have the cost back to put towards a new laptop, since I can either get the same laptop for cheaper or get a better laptop for the same price, than have the current one fixed. Throw on top that SQ is much cheaper, and the choice (for me) was obvious.

The rate is contingent on price paid.
My latest R1 only set me back $580 or so - I'm sure that a $1400 'built-to-the-hilt' M11x would be much more to insure.

Does anyone know of any Squaretrade alternatives that operate in Canada. According to their website they only cover goods bought via Ebay in Canada.

Yeah - I have no clue...
Mine was $120 - $30 for the coupon code further up the thread. $90 for three years...

How long ago did you buy your Delienware?

Be sure you understand that the SquareTrade warranty is not unlimited service like the dell. With Squaretrade once your repairs exceed your policy value, you are no longer covered. Squaretrade is a reasonable deal if your laptop has minimal issues.

With the hinge and other issues, you might want to consider Dell (if you have not already made your purchase). You cannot get the Dell warranty at a discount once the order has been placed. You'll have to return it and order another.

Bumping this again for 1 day coupon code from Slickdeals. Use DEAL30 for 30% off with no cap. You'll save $60 on a policy for a laptop costing $700-$999.99 for 3 years with accidental damage from handling protection (Total policy would cost $139.99). The Facebook deal from Black Friday was limited to $40 off.

Also just to clarify the above post your policy value is for the original purchase price of your laptop.

Copy and pasted from the contract:
Value of your coverage: The total value of your warranty is in most cases equal to the purchase price of your item. For every valid claim filed against your item for which we provide repair services, the total value of your coverage is reduced by the cost of the repair services rendered. In the event a valid claim is filed with us and repair costs are estimated to exceed the current value of your warranty - the balance of your warranty value will be offered instead.

Thanks, I got in on this deal today. For what it's worth, I called Deli beforehand to get a quote on a warranty extension. They offered $300 for a 2-yr extension or $200 for a 1-yr extension. I tried to haggle by mentioning the squaretrade deal and they were willing to come down $25 plus a $75 gift card for use in the Dell store. That would be a decent value if you shop at the Dell store regularly, though it's still a pretty big markup compared to the going price of a 3-yr warranty when you buy a new laptop ($200).
