I have an R3 and it did, I didn't have an option to change it when purchasing.

From the factory, I thought there was something wrong with the sound and was thinking about returning it. It should be called MinnAudio from the factory :) Turned up all the way (even wearing headphones) the volume sounded about 40% as loud as my netbook which didn't make sense. I could hardly hear anything and always wanted the volume to go higher. I thought it was pretty stupid for a gaming laptop to have sound you can't hear or turn up.

I spent about an hour in the audio utility changing settings around to maximize volume and got the volume to be about 3x louder than it was (it actually hurts my ears now it's so loud on max volume if I'm wearing headphones). I have no idea why it comes from the factory basically with settings to minimize the volume. I haven't tested the results of my settings (now 3x louder) with the speakers as I only wear headphones... I would guess the speakers are getting a whole lot more power as well.
