So earlier this evening I noticed something on my screen. Upon further inspection it appears it's stuck between my actual screen and the plastic shield covering it. Anyone familiar with removing the out plastic shield part of a monitor on an m11x? If this thing stays stuck forever it's going to drive me insane.

I had that too! You could get scotch tape and lift the shield of from the edge and get that speck of dirt out.

Call support and ask for screen replacement .

If you are feeling brave you can follow the hinge repair guide on youtube to get to the LCD and clean off whatever has got behind. It's fairly easy, just be careful...Don't use a metal screwdriver to pull the plastic off as you'll dent the frame if you aren't careful. Use a credit card or something.

Sure it’s not a bunch of dead pixels?
Can't work out how that size "dirt/something" would get in there, and literally be aligned with one another. -

OK, gonna try that out latter Buttonz, thanks. I'm a little nervous about it but I don't think I have any other quick options.
And it's definitely not dead pixels. When I trued to rub/scratch it off with my fingernail I actually pushed hard enough to indent the shield and touch the actual screen, hence why it looks like there's two, part of whatever it is got stuck to the screen itself while the rest is still stuck to the inside of the shield. -
It's really easy to be honest, just make sure you judge how far the plastic will flex. Dirt can get in quite easy through the plastic surround or hinge. Post back with your results or anymore questions

Credit card won't work, at least not on mine, I was afraid I would break the card instead. I didn't have plastic pryer with me so I covered the smallest screwdriver with fine cloth and pried the frame open.
Assuming you're going to follow the video instructions, you'll see how it's seem easy to pry the plastic edges, actually, that's only true after several times opening and closing the fame; the first time you do it, you'd have to actually peel the double tape, especially in the bottom and upper part of the screen, be careful, the tape's so sticky you have to gently peel it from BOTH direction.
A note though, after reassembling, you'll find the bottom frame won't be as flush as before and this will effect the lighting of the alienware brand, giving gradient effect instead of uniform lighting.. you'll have to reapply some sort of adhesive before you got the uniform lighting again.
Hope that helps. -

well then I guess R1 screen assembly is slightly better than R2 in term of the hassle AFTER disassembling

I just had this problem fixed by dell. Are you still under warranty? I was and a dell rep came and put on a brand new screen, took all of 30 minutes.
Something stuck between screen and shield
