Hi, I am new here.Sorry if I am posting in the wrong section or whatever.
Anyways I ordered my M11x R2 3 days ago, and I was wondering, what can exactly go wrong? I mean, I have read about hinge issues, battery issues and several many other issues. Again, if I am posting in the wrong section or whatever, sorry.

The system can overheat, and then the battery might explode, and if it's next to some curtains, they can catch on fire. Then, if you forgot to change the batteries in your smoke alarm, and your sprinklers rusted, your house might catch on fire. After that, assuming you live next to a nuclear power plant, and the wind is blowing in that direction, it'll catch one of the reactors on fire, which really isn't good, and if the safety inspector called in sick that day, there might be a meltdown. Then the radiation will flood the city which causes the animals to turn into mutants and bite the president who then turns into a zombie. Everyone then goes mad and then Will Smith has to save the world.

    Other than that, not much.

besides the sarcasm, you pretty much stated the problems. I received my M11xr2 yesterday, so the first thing you should do is check for these common problems.

You can have hinge issues where the hinges are poorly made which can cause future problems. (I was almost out of the waters when I realized that mine made a clicking noise right when you close the lid, which is uncommon. I, for one, will not return it as it is too much of a hassle and rather wait to see if it really becomes a problem. Warranty should cover it with the initial year, and you can extend it after that if you're still paranoid.)

There is the optimus issue of it not switching to the gt335 when needed when playing games (i have not had this problem).

Then there is the heating problem of some m11xr2s. (i believe this problem is the most serious one because if you have an overheating laptop. It's one that CANNOT be overlooked. It's something that will be there and I suggest replacing it immediately.)

And the last most talked about would be the battery issues. People with M11xr2's complain about how much shorter the battery life is compared to the r1 which is a good 2-3 hours. That may be a deal breaker for some, but if you dont mind having 4-5 hours, mind you my last laptop was 2 hours max, then you should be fine.

Overall, im thoroughly happy with this laptop and I dont regret it one single bit. Neither will you. It plays all the games I want flawlessly and it is so crystal clear. The best part? ITS ULTRA PORTABLE!! Warranty for hinge is the one thing you might have to keep up with, but take care of your laptop well. Put on a screen protector and maybe even a keyboard protector and don't overuse the hinge by opening and closing it recklessly. You should be great =)

    ENJOY YOUR m11xr2! I am! =)

Add another satisfied m11x R2 customer to the list. So far so good with my rig. Playing WoW, Bad Company 2 and other games on an 11" laptop, not to mention editing levels in the Source Engine and UnrealEd. So far I'm very happy with my purchase and knowing it can only get better with future driver updates, etc. makes it even sweeter.

Rest well Noah14, the only part that's going to suck is the wait. :)

Thanks MrPharCyde. +1 Rep for you.
I was starting to think I had just bought myself a 1100 dollar laptop/netbook only for it to just fail constantly. Thanks KBC88 and MrPharCyde

No problem as I know the feeling. Some of the posts on here can get a little out of hand and I had similar concerns the day my rig arrived. Honestly, play games and use the laptop the way you want the way it comes right out of the box. Only really look into tweaking things when you have a reason to. If and when you do want to update, tweak, or change anything just search this board for the problem or whatever and chances are there will already be a post about it and possibly even a solution.

Pretty much what he said. It is terrifying as some members here can be more anal than others. Check the problems I mentioned, don't freak out about every little problem (my little hinge crack for instance). You should be fine, honestly.

Good to find a positive thread about the M11x, I have been following the board since I ordered mine which should arrive in the next couple of days and was getting a little concerned. I am sure there are a lot more satisfied owners out their than ones with problems. Can't wait to recieve mine!

Don't know until more people report, and hopefully check if any throttling is going on.

So this is kind of random but i have noticed a bit of condensation on the left side of my lcd display when i leave my lid down for a couple hours. It's almost as if my keys are sweating(W,S,D,A,X,Z keys) when i open my lid there will be a liquid on my screen almost every time. ? (m11x R2)

I had thought about that, because those are the keys most used for my gaming. Thanks, just didnt know if that was logical or not.

I received my R2 on July 1st and it has been perfect. No hinge problems, games are running great and I have yet to encounter the Optimus issue. This laptop is awesome. Battery life is around 5 hrs so it isnt too bad.

one of the most important thing that everyone missed to mention is that, keep your brand new m11x out of reach from girl friend and children. some learned their lesson after their girls droped m11x on the floor.

Use HWtemp. Check the temp of your cores and your GPU when idle and gaming. Mine stays around ~65-66C when I game, and hovers around 40-45 when idle. and 48-50 when I browse and youtube and such.

There have been reports of people's m11x's reaching 100C? If so that is a big problem, a laptop shouldnt get that hot or you're just killing its lifespan and I would suggest getting it replaced.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that those are my Core temps, my GPU temps doesnt go beyond ~55C when gaming.
