As you all know Alienwares have a lot of overheating issues.
Mine gets absurdly hot and games start to run less smoothly. I managed to fix temporarily by placing a small fan behind it.

But I'm thinking of buying a cheap Cooling stand for my alienware, but I don't really know if it would solve the overheat problem.

Does anyone have this problem, or have a cooling stand or something?

Any info about it could help. Thanks. :D

Depending on what model you have, the m11x should not, nor does it have a heat problem.

I would try to clean out your fan, maybe redo the thermal paste, or call warranty and get it fixed.

It can't hurt to use a cheap cooling pad, but the best investment would be a can of compressed air to keep the fan clean.

On my R1 the temps are VERY safe but there is a marked increase in temps when on multiple displays for some reason... not what the GPU reports, though it does go up, but in the case temp! Not danger level just noticeable. So while working I use a little cheap plastic thing with fans in it.

Ditto for games (rarely now-a-days) but strangely I think the case is cooler but GPU temp is higher.

Suspect it is the BIOS fan control

    I use the:

Cooler Master NotePal Ergostand Notebook Cooler R9-NBS-4UAK

And I really like it. It's very good.

I actually use that exact cooler for my m11x, it works great. It is a little big but I don't mind it, it means more of the laptop is over the fan.

I don't know the exact temperature, how can I know it for sure?

I mean, when the fan's turning on (like really loud), if I put my hand where the air leaves, it's really, really hot. After a minute or so, the keyboard starts getting a little hot, too.

I bought my m11x r2 8 months ago, in the last month i was noticing overheating issues, temps started to go over 84+ when playing and the cpu throttled, lowering my fps when i play games, when using throttlestop my temps go over95!! this is extremely hot! So, yesterday i open up my lap and cleaned everything, the fan was dirty as hell, there was a lot of dust blocking the air circulation, i changed the thermal paste with IC diamond 7 Overview and now my m11x r2 works like a charm.

Played 1 hour of skyrim with 180 OC (SetPLL) and Throttle Stop activated, and the max temperatures were 76c!, later i played League of Legends at max graphics, getting 60-80 fps all the game, max temps --> 72c.

Now im so ****ing happy with this machine <3

    Kthxbye. :)

That is an acceptable temperature for a gaming laptop. If it reaches around 90ish than I would start contemplating a cooling stand.
