    Should I back out now?

I ordered an R2 last Wednesday and Dell canceled my order because they "suspected that I was a reseller", so I had to call in to have my Dell account unlocked since I couldn't make another purchase until I do. I got it done and made another order for one on Friday but was unable to because Dell charged my credit card account and put it over credit limit even though my order never went through. Currently, I need to wait another 7 days for the funds to transfer back before I am able to make the purchase once more. *sigh* Fortunately, the sales rep promises me the $699 price for the i5 although I should bargain for a little something something for the trouble I had to go through. Any tips on that?

Anyway, my real question for you guys is, should I back out now that I have the chance? I have had doubts about that hinge since I first read about it. This is perhaps my biggest concern. If I could get another laptop that has similar or better performance at a better price, I might just go for that one instead.

If the hinge is the only issue that's bugging you, then you should get it - Dell will correct the issue sooner or later. I can't think of any other notebook that offers the same amount of portability and performance at that price.

No idea, honestly. But I do know there are a lot of student resellers that buy laptops in bulk then sell for higher prices in my college. Dell doesn't like that. haha

Dell announced that the hinges were faulty and are working on a solution that should be out next month. if your hinge should break, even if your out of warranty they will still replace your hinge for free.

Had Dell come to my house in Dec and fix my hinges. No problems since. Dell did say that if it happened again that they would replace it again if needed.

I agree.. Ever since I got my R1 I think it is the BEST laptop that I have ever had. What other 11" laptop can you get 7+ hr of battery life browsing the internet and 3+ hrs of gaming? I would call dell back and demand a better discount because of the problem that they gave you!

I just wish the m11x didnt have an nvidia card that caused linux issues or I wouldnt have given it to my mom. I would say even with the nvidia card that its one of the best computers I ever owned. If it had an ati card (or integrated only setting in bios) it would have been the best computer I ever owned.

You know, people keep telling me there are better spec'd laptops for less money. I can't seem to locate the laptops these people are referring to. Really, all I want is something that can run something like Vindictus at a good playable frame rate without breaking my bank.

Yeah I have a brand new battery that Dell warrantied due to a faulty one. I get between 6-8 hrs of battery life on Low Power setting just surfing the internet and emailing. I love my R1!!!
