If I close my laptop without manually putting it to sleep, whenever I open it back up the screen won't turn on. If I do put it to sleep manually it will turn back on. It's not a big problem since I normally put it to sleep first, I just want to know what's causing it and if it might get worse over time. I'm using an R1

    1) What happens when you hit the power button in this situation? Does your laptop turn on?

    2) I suspect your laptop is hibernating.

Go to Windows Control Panel --> Power Options --> Change Plan Settings (next to whichever plan you have set) --> Change Advanced Power Settings

Expand Sleep --> Allow Hybrid Sleep. Is that enabled?
Also go to Sleep --> Hibernate After. Are any of those set?

Nothing happens when you hit the power, eh? That is strange.

Try disabling Hibernate (set it to "never") and see what happens
