Hello , Batstone, it all comes down to what are you going to use your laptop for.
I have a 40Gb Intel in one of my laptops with Windows home on it, office and other programs and it's enough.
But if you're planning on installing a few games along with other large files you may find it not enough for the M11x being able to only host one HDD.

Another good option will be to get that SSD for windows, a fee games and programs and get a larger drive, fit it in a USB enclosure to use it for your data.

I wouldn't buy the OCZ sandforce controller ssd's, they have a terrible reputation. They may be fast, but also unreliable compared to the crucial or intel ssd's.

Yes don't get 60gb. Get at least 100gb, or 120gb. If you plan on having any games on it at all you'll quickly run out of space, and forget about any itunes media folder.

As for the OCZ Sandforce controllers, I've heard some bad things about the 3rd generation stuff but their 2nd gen Sandforce stuff was/is great. I have a 2nd gen (240gb Agility 2) in my R1 and I love it. I've also got an Agility 2 in my wife's netbook and two Vertex 2's in Raid 0 in my desktop and have had 0 problems with any of them.

Does the R2 have SATA III? If not save money and get a SATA II based SSD. I'm sure you can find them for a reasonable discount and get more drive space for your $$$.

R2 doesn't have SATA III so save your money and get a higher capacity SATA II drive. The performance it still amazing!

I have an Intel X-25M 120GB SSD and it has worked wonderfully. If I were you, I'd go for a 160GB+ drive if your funds permit it. Mine gets filled up really quickly with games. If you aren't installing lots of games at the same time, then it is not as much of an issue.

As everyone else recommend, get at least a 120gb one.
Regarding the manufacturer/controller, sandforce drives of both generations are really hit and miss so i would not recommend them.
    Go for samsung/crucial/intel ones
