Hey guys hope you're all doing well.

UPDATE: Turns out the notebook works fine over A/C charger, it gives problems with DC.

Using it over AC right now and working like a charm. Though i still get static sound from speakers with increased HDD activity.

Well I have an M11x that's started dying on me, or maybe it has.

Opened it up to replace the HDD with an SSD. Managed to do that, however now it seems to have died. It started up at first, went through windows install and everything fine. Now the next day I turn it on, I get a BSOD shortly after the Boot screen. Managed to reach the Login screen at one point. Now it's totally dead. It won't even detect hard drive. Sometimes it does, but dies shortly after. For instance, I loaded a live windows and tried data transfer. The hdd stopped just as i started copying data.

Now I know it could be the SSD but I checked 3 different drives on it, even resoldered all the points on the sata connector. Drives work fine. Just the M11X won't read them.

Also, I did hear a weird sound coming from the speakers when this all happened at first. Sound was consistent with the HDD activity light which leads me to believe there was something grounding or something, not sure. But it's not there anymore.

Please someone shed some light on this, I'll be thankful for life.

I can't shed any lights onto you. Since you tampered with the laptop internals (replacing HDD with SSD), there's no guarantee that it is not the user's fault in this scenario.

You do know that speakers have magnets in them, and just by moving magnets around in the compartment may cause unintended side effects. I'm guessing the weird sound may be related to magnetization issues?

I'm no hardware specialist, so take everything I had with a grain of salt.

how would the speakers be touching the hdd/ssd ? they're fixed in their place.

Magnetization is the last thing that could happen tbh, because speakers don't even get taken out.

Does anyone have the stock BIOS ? I can only find the EXE file which would essentially need windows. I don't have windows with me.
