I haven't seen any threads showing third party replacement screens that work with the m11x. Looking for something with better viewing angles and brighter.

The 11.6" MB Air is the only one I've personally seen that is acceptable. The Samsung and AUO's I've seen all suffer from the same poor vertical angles.

The basic LG LP116WH2 is just as bad if not worse.

Heard from a supplier that claims to be able to get the MacBook 11.6" screen but they want $600 for it...so no dice.

    Edit:

We love macs just posted this:

I had gotten in touch with them early on. Also i got the price wrong, super no dice.

The macbook air screens don't have the same connector... according to a screen supplier I talked to.

It sucks because the screen is the only downside to this awesome little machine.

Yeah, this isn't the first thread on this, too. A rather sizeable thread (only 3-5 pages) came up on this about 4 months or so ago, and nothing came out of it. Well, other than that this laptop:

cannot fit a 13.1" screen, no matter what.
cannot fit (with adequate protection via bezel) a 12.1" screen, unless if it's 16:10
would need bezel mod for any screen other than a 11.6" or smaller 16:9 display.

Brighter would be nice, but I'm fine with the angles on my AUO

The brightness (or lack of) is what prevents me from using it outdoors, and have a separate netbook just for that purpose, which is kind of silly. That's too bad there aren't reasonable options, but thanks to everyone that responded.

I wonder if there is a way to just increase the brightness w/out a whole new LCD.

Such as overvolting the lighting assembly..

its a 16:10 ratio, and is CCFL backlight...

I don't see what the big issue about the backlight is...

Would need inverter, LED backlight does not, so more than likely not compatible.
