I just received my i7 6 days ago.
Many members here have PM'ed me requesting that I create a recovery image of my machine so they can bring their machines back to an original state.
I am glad to help.
Its probably best that I post it somewhere though so it can be downloaded by anyone.
I dont currently own any cloning software however I have the ability to create an image using Acronis. I dont beleive acronis is the route anyone wants me to take though since you will need acronis to restore.
So far I have only installed Mozilla and the latest Adobe Reader.
What is the preferred clone software folks would like for me to use ?

Anyone with a Seagate hard drive attached to the machine wether internally or externally can use the Disc Wizard thats powered by Acronis to restore the partition with the boot cd.
Might not work with the Seagate drive attached via usb on some machines. -
I think whatever imaging software you want to do it with is going to have to do. I have used norton ghost in the past and like it, simple and very efficient but it is also one of those that you need that same software to put back the image onto another or same drive for that matter. I think they are all going to be like that. I am just glad you are going through the trouble of making an image of your drive for the benefit of us all.
Whatever is easiest for you, we the end beneficiaries will just deal with it. No worries. Again THANK YOU. -
Won't imaging the machine share your Windows key, any other serials and logons - especially as it sounds like it's not factory fresh? You might want to check that before sharing it

You should never give someone an image of your hard drive. It will contain all of your user data and your windows serial/etc. Also it more likely than not is illegal as only the original owner is "allowed" to have that running on their computer.
Plus you get into really bad areas (especially if you have went online) with the image having your IP's and router information etc
Needless to say this is a VERY bad idea.
I'm closing this down for right now until I can clarify something with the other mods. If the topic is fine I will reopen this thread but if it's judged to be improper I will simply leave it closed.
