I'm kind of at a stand still here.

I would love to purchase either the i5 or i7 version (thinking of the i7), but I keep hearing bad things about the R2 (mostly game incompatibility). I really don't want to deal with all of the stress of having to mod the drivers in order to play each game I own.

Should I just buy the C2D version, or is it worth the stress of dealing with all the problems with the R2 ??

I mainly plan on playing Street Fighter 4, Mirror's Edge, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Oblivion.

Hmm, well ive tried oblivion and it runs great on my r1 with settings bumped up. The only games that might have a little trouble on the r1 is stuff like starcraft, civilization, and other cpu intensive games, but for most games the 335m is the bottleneck not the cpu. Thats my 2 cents, plus dells seems to want to get rid of their r1 stock so you can grab a base model for $550.

Wow, and I always thought it was the CPU that was causing most of the problems. thanks, that really helps.

So I would have issues on Civ 5 and SC2? Argh! I play both of those (Civ 5 extensively). If I were to lower the settings to let's say medium, I assume it would be fine for perfect game play?

I played mirrors edge on my r1 and was getting 25-50fps in the training area at max settings with OC on.

When I played SC2 back at launch I was playing it on high with no lag. Civ V tears it up, though.
