I wanted to avoid hijacking the thread on the bios flash to increase voltage to the GPU so I thought I would start a new thread on this subject.

I am interesting in increasing the RAM timings (RAM SPD mod) as mentioned in the other thread, but I'll be honest this is the first time I've been this active into overclocking. I was hoping some users on the site would be interested in sharing their experience in increasing the timings and how successful they were in doing so. I've already got a 32-bit version of windows on another HDD and ThaiPhoon Burner is ready to go... just wanted to read about others experiences before going ahead and doing it myself.

So, any tips, tricks, or important things to know before increasing the timing? How far did you increase? And If I were to go out and purchase a 4gb stick of ram, is there anything specific I should be looking for? (Such as, is there a difference between pc8500 and pc10600 on the m11x, or does it all come out the same speed in the end)

I've read a fair amount on the subject, but it's sometimes irrelevant when reading about other machines compared to our own.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Ok. Here's a tip: Don't flash for CAS9 and over, the R2 will not boot with any timing higher then CAS8.

By flashing my Samsung Dell RAM, I increased the speed of one stick to 183 from 178 and the other stick did not increase, so yes, there are stick gains.

I'm thinking of compiling a list of modules and their overclocks but haven't had the time yet, busy messing with Insyde. Something along the lines of Hynix H5TQ2G83BFR-H9C should be ok. These are the same modules that are used in G.Skill Ripjaws and Corsair Vengence kits so they should work better then say Micron 0SD77 D9LGK, used in value memory. Don't quote me on that though, I have been trying to get one stick unsuccessfully. Newegg is your friend, they have high resolution images of the modules.
