    Hi,

So here is my story ( sorry for my english , french-canadian ), i bought my new m11x r2 (i5) with only 2GB of RAM knowing that this will be quite low for SC2 and other games. At the time i didn't have enough money for the 4gb but now i can.

I am going to buy 4gb at my futurshop store and i was wondering if it's easy to replace the RAM in a M11X ( i am used to do it on a Deskopt but not on a laptop) ?

    Thanks !

It's very easy to replace the RAM modules. Just remove the bottom access plate, pop the current set out and install the new 4GB kit.

Thanks for the quick answer , i was also wondering if the fact that i can't find ddr3 2gb 800mhz ( i am not sure if it's mhz but i am talking about speed) , only ddr3 2gb 1033mhz. Is it going to work ? I know that sometimes there're issues with the motherboard that can't handle faster ram.

    Thanks in advance,

800MHz DDR3 doesn't exist. 1033MHz or higher will work fine. The 800MHz frequency is a limitation of the ULV Core iX CPUs.

800 is the limit for m11x.

I've read few ppl saying there isn't much of performance difference between 2gb and 4gb, so I just went for harddrive upgrade instead.

    Another question,

I should ask this in a thread related to SC2 but i am wondering, i am playing SC2 with low graphic and i am still lagging . Like i said earlier i am in a process of buying 2GB because i only ahve 2gb atm. Is there a chance that i'll be able to play sc2 in medium or high resolution after this upgrade ?

I was thinking also about updating my driver , that might help right ?

    I have a M11X R2 I5 2GB

    Thanks in advance,

    Migault1990,

    Also lol

by the way .... how can you keep a picture of jagr in a ranger uniform ... fail ;)

but i tried 1 week ago to update my driver tru nvidia website. My first tried failed because i didn't choose de rigth one (i downloaded 32bit window 7 instead of 64bit). My second tried failed also because i had an error message again , different from the one before, i don't remeber but i'll find out tonight.

I was wondering, i am on nvidia website now, they are giving me 2 option , either to select my driver or let the website choose it. Which option should i try ?

thanks in advance for your help ,

Dunno where you read that (unless it was the posts saying they produce the same WEI score), but 2gb and 4gb are totally different classes in that there is a noticeable difference between them in even in light everday use because of how Windows 7 uses memory. (4gb to 8gb isn't, unless you use certain programs.) OP, if you've got the money for the 4gb, definitely go for it.

I'll guess i'll do both, update driver and change my ram.

    Thanks !
