I have an M11x R2. I've observed that sometimes when I hibernate the computer and turn it on back later, Turbo Boost will fail to work. I notice because the Turbo Boost monitor widget will show, well, no turbo boosting of the processor, and I notice because my computer will be more sluggish in general, particularly with opening applications. It's also very noticeable in a game like Starcraft II, which is known to be heavily CPU-dependent.

It's not a huge huge problem, as it's easily fixed by simply rebooting my computer, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem? And does anyone know why it might be happening? For the record, turbo boost is definitely enabled in the BIOS and it works most of the time, just sometimes not after turning back on from hibernation.

How are the power settings after that? Do those change to lower performance?
Which video driver are you using right now?
Sorry for the questions, I just need a little more info

    Hi Frank,

The problem is a bit sporadic so I'll have to wait until the next time it happens, but at that point I will check and let you know. To clarify, do you mean the power settings of "High Performance" vs "Balanced"?

AlienFusion, your power profiles. Running on 'Balanced' or 'power saving' can SIGNIFICANTLY cripple your gaming performance, it my games are running badly 8 times out of 10 it's cos i left it in power saving.

Frank - happened again this morning. I checked my power settings in AlienFusion and it's set to High Performance. I'm running the Nvidia 275.33 drivers.

Unclewebb - I do use Throttlestop :) Turning it off and on (clicking the button twice) did indeed fix the problem, which is rather faster than restarting my computer; still, I'd like to know what causes the problem and if there's any way to prevent it from popping up in the future.

Sounds like just a random bug in the bios. Make sure you have EIST enabled in the bios and other than that, there probably isn't anything you can do if you are already running the latest bios version.
