My wifi worked fine from when I got the laptop in december until about late march where all of a sudden, I'll be surfing the web and my wifi will just drop out. The little icon in the corner will say i still have 4 bars but web pages wont load. I'll then have to disconnect from my wireless connection and then reconnect where I'll have about 5-10 minutes before it happens again. I don't think its my router because my brother's laptop and my mother's iPad both work fine on the same connection.

Again, this only recently started happening, and I was wondering what might be causing it or how to fix it.

I also tried the "uncheck 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" trick and it didn't help.

First, download inSSIDer and do a survey of all the wifi networks in your area. Pick a channel that's hopefully not being used, 1, 6, and 11 being the optimal ones to start with.

Second, try adding a static IP for your wifi card in your routers DHCP settings.
